A series of small wins is a slow, steady step toward achieving bigger goals and major victories. One way to help young athletes feel empowered is by recognizing and celebrating those small wins and accomplishments. It can help boost their motivation, forge their self-esteem and confidence, and create a positive perspective in life.
Pursuing your passion and dreams can be exhausting at times. Young athletes put in a great amount of time and effort; thus, they also need a little hit of dopamine every now and then to fuel their motivation to keep working on themselves.
Aside from having talent and determination to achieve success in sports, they also need to believe that they can truly accomplish things. Acknowledging every small victory can help develop their confidence and ability to believe that they can do things. It also serves as a way for them to track their progress, no matter how big or small.
Pausing to celebrate gives these young athletes the time to reflect on their goals and remind themselves of why they are doing it. So, intentionally celebrate small wins and help the athletes you work with savor them.
